A Combination Storyfest Journey & School Seminar
Besides the seminar, we explore the winter desert and its spirituality every day by mini-van. Fees are higher because they are all inclusive, including lodgings, meals, and all admissions and fees for tour guides.
Master Class in Storytelling
for skilled storytellers who are developing a new story or a new story-cycle of their own choosing. The seminar will offer time to tell and re-tell the stories with the support and feedback of other master tellers. The sessions will be intensive.
Desert Stories & Spirituality
Every day we explore storytelling traditions from the great desert cultures of the world while exploring the natural landscape of the Sonora desert. The Cultures: Sahara, Arabian, Kalahari, Sonora, Gobi, Australian & the Holy Land. Places in the Sonora: Saguaro National Monument, Living Desert Museum, San Xavier Bac Mission, and other desert environments in and around Tucson. There will be some easy desert walks in the cool of the morning. Morning and evening prayer will outdoors under the desert sun and the desert moon.
We will combine our sessions at the retreat center with trips to various desert environments that will deepen our appreciation of desert stories and spirituality. Here are the details: The Tucson seminar will be a Master Class in Storytelling with supplemental materials on Desert Storytelling & Spirituality. It will be limited to a few persons, co-led by Dr Mary Jo Kelly Wilhelm and Dr. Robert Bela Wilhelm. We will have a passenger van seating 12 persons for transfers between the Tucson airport and the Redemptorist Retreat Center. We will also combine our sessions at the retreat center with trips in our passenger van to various desert environments that will deepen our appreciation of desert stories and spirituality.
Credit for the Seminar

Our Lodgings
We will be staying at the Redemptorist Retreat Center, set in the Sonora desert at the edge of the vast expanse of Saguaro National Monument.Click on this two links for more details.
Registration
We can only enroll a few storytellers and story listeners. Your early enrollment is important.
Costs
includes seminar, room, and meals -- breakfast and dinner at the Center and boxed lunches for our daily excursions into the Sonora desert.
$1120 double occupancy standard room (4 nights) per person.
$1180 double occupancy upgraded room (4 nights) per person.
$1180 single occupancy standard room (4 nights) per person.
$1260 single occupancy upgraded room (4 nights) per person.
Payment Schedule
$400 non-refundable deposit due with registration to guarantee a place for you.
$300 non-refundable second payment due December 1
Balance due February 1, 2012
However, your full payments will be refunded if there is someone to take your reserved place. If there is not, there will be no refund of any amount.
