I have created an icon

the Raising of Lazarus.

Gypsy Folktale

The Roma or Gypsy people

migrated to Europe

from India in the Middle Ages.

They are simultaneously a highly

romanticised people and an outcast nation

 in the European world.

The story of Romany Lazarus is a Roma

retelling of the Raising of Lazarus.  In the

tale, Lazarus, Martha and Mary, the Apostles,

and Jesus himself are all portrayed as Roma

people.  The story is very vivid.

I have created an icon of the Roma version of

the Raising of Lazarus.  It is described in

some detail in this linked video.

And Jesus said:

“I am the Resurrection.

I am the Life.

Believe in Me,

and though dying

you will come to life.

If you are living

believe in Me:

You shall never die.

Do you believe this?

Do you believe Me?”
